Estate Sale Etiquette

  1. This is the foremost principle that guides our business... We are representing the contents of someone's life, that concept deserves a massive amount of respect from us and from our customers.  It is a privilege for us to be able to assist our clients through this process and it is a privilege for our customers to have the opportunity to come into a private residence and be able to purchase items.
  2. We have only days to empty the home, bring as much money to the Estate as possible and create a pleasant and friendly shopping environment.  It has been our experience that the best way to accomplish these things, is to price items in a fair and reasonable way from the beginning.  Not to over price items and then have a 50% off sale the last day.  At our sales, you will find fairly priced items, and be able to purchase items that you want from the very beginning of the sale, without having to wait until the end for it to be a fair price.  We are open to reasonable offers, especially on large ticket items.
  3. The following instructions apply to the majority of our sales.
  • Parking: Please use common sense when parking and follow any posted signage.  Please park with the flow of traffic and be sure emergency vehicles can pass.
  • Access: Each home is different and none are designed to hold hundreds of people to shop!  For your safety, we may limit the amount of people that can enter at one time.  Our instructions for access will always be clearly posted on individual sale advertising.
  • Bags & Baskets:  We have baskets available for you to shop with, you may also bring your own empty bag or basket if you prefer, we do reserve the right to inspect all bags leaving the property.
  • Piles: You can make a “pile” and there are baskets available for you, please put a sticky note with your name on your basket if you leave it at the checkout. If you put an item in your pile or shopping bag you WILL BE held responsible for purchasing it. Hoarding items and changing your mind at checkout is not fair to the Estate or other shoppers and will not be tolerated. Be prepared to purchase all items in your “pile” or shopping bag. Checkout is not the time to make decisions.
  • Payment: Per our contract with the Estate, most sales are Cash Only.  We are unable to hold items for later payment.
  • Wrapping & Packaging: If you plan on purchasing quite a few breakable items, please bring your own paper or wrapping supplies. There will usually be some paper and boxes available, but you are encouraged to bring your own.
  • Facilities: There are no bathroom facilities available for public use, we empathize but cannot accommodate
